Airtech International has added a new member to its Econostitch line it hopes will be quite a-peel-ing. Econostitch G is a polyester peel ply designed to be used with both polyester and epoxy resins. The company says the G has black tracers with high visibility to reduce the risk of peel ply being left on the part (don’t you hate when that happens?), and is designed for marine, wind energy and commercial applications.
Continuing our fun with letters, check out a new high strength E-glass fiberglass reinforcement from Gibson Fiberglass and Jushi Group. The E6 Enhanced Glass Fiber is aimed at composite applications requiring better corrosion resistance and enhanced physical properties (wind energy, high pressure pipe, and sucker rods). If you happen to be a sucker for greener materials, this would fit the bill, as Jushi says their testing reveals a 90 percent reduction in emissions of nitrogen oxide compounds and an 80 percent reduction in waste gas emissions.
Cleaning up messes is an unexciting yet necessary task. Chem-Trend is getting its clean on with its new Lusin Clean L 52 F, its first surface cleaner and degreaser specifically developed for use in the thermoplastic industry. The cleaner is intended to remove residue such as wax, grease, or oil from plastic or glass surfaces as well as from machine parts. If you manufacture products with high hygienic requirements such as baby bottles, toys, tooth brushes or coffee machines, you’re right in Chem-Trend’s wheelhouse.
Doctors say we all could use a little more fiber, but DuPont is giving you more of a different fiber. The company introduced Kevlar Advanced Performance (AP) fibers, which can be used in tires, belts and hoses for the automotive industry. DuPont estimates the global demand for high-strength materials in automotive applications will double within the next five years, driven (no pun intended) by the need for reduced weight, fuel economy and higher performance at elevated temperatures.
