Olympus_RadiiDon’t cut corners in your composites inspection. Olympus NDT has introduced a comprehensive inspection solution for laminate composite parts manufactured for the aerospace industry. The solution comprises the OmniScan MX Phased Array flaw detector, OmniScan MXU software, and a selection of specially designed curved linear phased array probes and immersion corner wedges. In addition, a Mini Wheel encoder allows time or distance based manual scanning. The OmniScan solution is designed to scan and inspect the entire corner or radius in one simple pass and meet the challenges of corner inspections including adjustable immersion wedges that are adaptable to a wide range of corner radii.

Wrap your head around this: ENECON Corporation has released DuraWrap, a polymer/carbon fiber reinforced composite designed for repairing and rebuilding aging and deteriorated piping, tanks and other fluid flow equipment. The material was specifically created to repair, rebuild, reinforce and restore the integrity of such systems, which the company says could extend the product’s service life. DuraWrap can be applied to the interior and/or exterior of piping and equipment to both seal and strengthen these components.

EMT_SeriesProving that green thinking is expanding to all facets of the industry, Shimadzu Scientific Instruments’ EMT series Servopulser fatigue testing machine is a new environmentally friendly option for dynamic strength testing that operates exclusively on efficient electrical power. In addition, EMT testers do not generate waste oil or contaminate surrounding lab areas. With closed-loop control, the Servopulser allows stable loading over a wide range of test forces and displacements, and is targeted for dynamic or static testing of resins, rubbers, biological samples, and automobile and electronic parts.

Newson-Gale Inc. is clamping down on stagnancy by redesigning its Bond-Rite clamp, which is meant to protect against static electricity build-up in mobile or portable equipment. The new model features an upgraded electronic module for enhanced battery/working life, as well as allowing quicker field replacement of the clamp and/or retractable cables should they be damaged in service. The clamp’s tungsten carbide teeth and clamping-action bite through insulating layers such as coated surfaces and built-up paint, resins, adhesives common in processing applications.
