Daylight Savings Time is this Sunday. While most of us will be losing an hour of bedtime (except for you lucky folks in Arizona), these companies aren’t losing sleep as they roll out new products:

Jet Edge’s new 5-x-5 feet Mid Rail Gantry Waterjet System is designed as a cutting solution for smaller shops.
Soak up this news: Jet Edge’s new 5-x-5 feet Mid Rail Gantry Waterjet System is designed as a cutting solution for shops that cut smaller material or have limited floor space available for machine tools. Powered by a 60,000 psi or 90,000 psi Jet Edge waterjet intensifier pump, the machine features an exposed 72-x-72 inch tank that accommodates overhead loading, and is designed to cut virtually any material up to 60-x-60 inches. The system utilizes an industrial PC controller and can be configured so that all three axes are fully programmable. It also features direct-couple AC brushless digital servo motors and single or double carriages.
Dragonite isn’t a drink to give you fire-breathing abilities. Instead, it’s the brand name Applied Minerals Inc. will use to market its Halloysite Clay as a drop-in additive for reinforcement in polymer composites. The company has filed a provisional patent application with the USPTO for a method of producing a halloysite-polymer composition that eliminates two costly steps typically used in the compounding process and produces improved properties to other polymer composites reinforced with either halloysite nanotubes utilizing other composition methods, chemically treated nanoclay or certain traditional fillers. The Dragonite line will consist of different grades of Halloysite Clay products tailored to enhance the property performance of each target application in a cost-competitive manner.
APV Engineered Coatings is painting the town (or at least the industry) red with its new NeverFade paint. The professional exterior paint is formulated with Arekma’s Kynar Aquatec polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), an engineered thermoplastic that offers a unique balance of properties to make it resistant to fading, algae, fungus, stains and abrasions. As a result, the company says the paint withstands harsh thermal, chemical and ultraviolet environmental conditions. The product is available nationwide for use on both residential and commercial projects. It may be applied to vinyl siding, PVC, wood, aluminum siding, stucco, masonry, and fiber cement surfaces, and is available in an unlimited number of colors.
There are always upgrades in computer software, and composite-related applications are no exception. CGTech has released the next major version of its composite applications: VERICUT Composite Programming (VCP) and VERICUT Composite Simulation (VCS). VCP reads CAD surfaces and ply boundary information and creates fiber-placement paths to fill the plies according to user-specified manufacturing standards and requirements. VCS reads CAD models of the layup tool and fixtures and simulates the layup sequence directly from program files. Tow material is applied to the layup form via program instructions in VERICUT’s virtual CNC simulation environment. The simulated material applied to the form can be measured and inspected to ensure the program follows manufacturing standards and requirements.
