With spring in full force, the increased amounts of pollen are causing many with allergies to hunker indoors for the time being. But these companies aren’t allergic to progress, as evidenced by their new product offerings:
HEATCON Composite Systems hopes to heat up the composite repair industry with two new products. The HCS8000 Series “Micro Bonder” is designed for use on the factory floor or to accomplish small localized repairs on in-service aircraft or other composite curing applications. This unit features an LCD Graphic Display, an Audible Alarm, 4 Key Operator Interface, and USB Data Connection while weighing in at 2.3lbs. For the rotor blade industry, the company is offering HCS2034 Series Blade Clamps. These are custom designed to be used on-location or localized repairs requiring a positive pressure application. By having the ability to repair blades on the aircraft, the need for track and balance is greatly reduced, which the company says results in additional labor and operation cost savings.
There’s only one thing to say about this next product: it’s electric! Eeonyx Corporation announced the development and availability of specialty engineered electrically conductive fabrics with radar absorbing properties for use in the advanced composites industry. The company says its conductive coating technology can be applied to any type of fabric, including mechanically strong fabrics such as glass, quartz and aramid. The fabrics are targeted for military, aerospace, and various commercial/industrial markets. The fabrics are currently being used or under evaluation in specific applications such as composite antennas, ballistic and radar absorbing composites, and composites for low radar signature windmills.

Readers can brush up on composites with a new brochure from Henkel Corporation
Brush up on your composites reading with a new 20-page brochure from Henkel Corporation, which provides detailed technical and application information on the company’s line of Frekote mold release agents for composite and rubber molding applications. More than 50 products are highlighted in the Frekote Mold Release Solutions Guide, from coatings to cleaners to sealers. The new brochure focuses primarily on selecting the right product for an application based on the molding substrate. Four substrate-specific selector spreadsheets are available: advanced composite systems, FRP composites (polyester, vinyl and ester), rotational/plastic, and rubber.
Steer Engineering has nothing to do with cows. Rather, it designed the Generation Next OMEGA H Class extruder, meant to enhance efficiency in high torque applications with further reduction in residence time, which could increase productivity by over 25 percent compared to conventional extruders. The extruder has torque rating of 17 Nm/cm3 at 720 rpm which the company says is believed to be the highest among the present extrusion equipment globally. This equipment is designed for difficult processing polymer materials such as ETP, engineering plastics, color, wood and natural fiber composites, cable compounds and low bulk density materials.
